Year: Sophomore Major: Animal Science Dairy Management
Hometown: East Bridgewater, MA
Who's your cow?
Heffalump, 938
What's your favorite thing about her?
She’s a real sweetheart and is one of the few who doesn’t cause problems in the parlor or during tying!
Tell us about your previous animal husbandry experience.
I don’t have a lot of dairy experience but I took dairy selection last year and showed a heifer named Rav who won the intermediate portion of the UNH Little Royal. I really liked getting to watch her progress throughout the semester, and I knew I was already interested in dairy but that class really solidified it for me! I worked on a family owned farm for the last 7ish years where I helped run farm parties and care for their horses, goats, alpacas, bunnies, ducks, chickens, and more! I’ve also worked at the UNH horse barn for the last year, and have done a lot of small side jobs for some older people's horses when they couldn’t really care for them over the winter.
Why did you decide to do CREAM?
I wanted to do CREAM because I’m very interested in seeing how the industry operates and I’ve always loved doing farm work.
What do you do when you're not in the barn?
When I’m not at the barn I enjoy going on walks, watching movies, and hanging out with my friends!
