Who’s your cow?

Melody, 1026

What’s your favorite thing about her?

Even though she’s the slowest to milk, she makes up for it by having a sweet personality. It’s really peaceful spending time with her.

Tell us about your previous animal husbandry experience.

I have a herd of dairy goats and a horse at home, and I started working at the UNH Organic Dairy when I was a Junior in high school.

Why did you decide to do CREAM?

The CREAM program was the main reason I chose to come to UNH. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to be able to get hands on experience in a course that would teach me about the dairy industry.

So far, what accomplishment are you most proud of?

I haven’t missed a single morning shift, which was my biggest fear this year.

What are your goals and hopes for the year?

This one is hard because there’s so little time left in the semester, so I’m going to answer for what I hope to accomplish when I am done with CREAM. I want to continue on in the dairy industry, and learn more about dairy research opportunities.

What do you do when you’re not in the barn?

I work as an RA, so I am usually in my building running socials or doing duty. I also like to hang out with my friends and my cat Cosmo.
