Year: Junior Major: Animal Science Pre-Vet Hometown: Pike, NH Who's your cow? Silhouette, 1078 What's your favorite thing about her? Her red collar, crazy eyes, and smaller stature in comparison. Tell us about your previous animal husbandry experience. I hadn't had any cattle experience until CREAM, although I have had a variety of animal husbandry experience. I have been a veterinary assistant at a small animal clinic for a year and a half now. I took the introduction to livestock management course at UNH where we cared for a flock of ewes and raised lambs. For the past three summers, I have worked at Clark's Bears where I am a bear keeper. I clean the enclosures and feed a total of 8 American Black Bears, 4 of which are circus show bears and 4 are retired show bears. At home I have three dogs, a bunny, and ~13 laying hens. Why did you decide to do CREAM? I have the goal of taking as many hands-on/practical animal science courses as I can here at UNH before I graduate. Ultimately, I want to diversify my animal experience and figure out which field I love the most. What are your hopes and goals for the year? Become confident at every barn chore (which includes driving the Jaylor) What do you do when you're not in the barn? I work at my veterinary clinic during the school year. I also love to hike! I have hiked about 53 miles of the Appalachian trail that runs through NH. I recently became a leader for the New Hampshire Outing Club and look forward to leading as many fun trips as I can!
